Satellite Internet

High Speed Connections for Remote Places

If you require a high speed connection for home or business and are located beyond conventional DSL phone or cable access, then satellite internet is the only choice for a fast internet connection required for many of today's internet uses.

Run a business from a remote location, keep in touch with family and friends or download video for instant viewing with high speed satellite internet. Enjoy music, video and large file downloads in remote locations with speeds far faster than dial-up internet. Although usually more expensive than cable or phone DSL, satellite internet allows you to interact dynamically with the world in a way that was not affordable just a few years ago.

Please keep in mind that there are a few limitations with satellite internet. Most users will not be affected at all by these limitations for everyday internet use. There is a slight delay when the satellite signal is sent from the senders dish to the satellite and the beam is then sent to the ISP's terminal. This delay is called "ping" and although it lasts less than a second when a signal is sent, it can be enough of a delay to interrupt the smooth running of applications such as internet based phone service, instant video messaging and fast paced online gaming. Another complication with satellite internet is that the providers usually use what is called a "dynamic IP" address which many sites and applications use as an identifier of your computer while online. These addresses can change each time you access a page or application on the internet. If this is a problem for specialized applications, there are usually ways to work around this issue depending on your individual needs. Please contact the service providers to discuss the compatibility with your specific needs. As stated, most users will not be significantly affected by these limitations of satellite internet

Each provider has created specific packages of service depending on your needs. The different packages may have different download and upload data speeds. Although the Wild Blue packages are priced a bit lower, they each have a cap on the amount of data allowed to be downloaded in a rolling 30 day period. Most people will not reach those caps, however please keep in mind that if you are used to a dial-up connection your use will probably increase with a faster connection.

Internet Service Provider Search Directory
myISPfinder is an ISP Directory that allows you to search for an ISP that provides internet services in your city. You can begin your ISP Search, and select the state you are looking for coverage in, then select your city, or a neighboring city that would be a toll-free call. Then you will be shown only the Internet Service Providers that have internet services in your area. If you are looking for Broadband ISP, or a Web Host, be sure to check those appropriate internet service directories.
When looking to compare ISPs, you will be able to view ratings, and feedback left for the ISP that will give you an idea about the overall satisfaction of the customers that they have served in the past, and leave ratings for an ISP that you have had service with if you choose to.

myISPfinder will be making some major changes in the next few weeks/months to the overall look and feel of the site, and to the ISP Forum.

Thank you for visiting, and we hope to provide you with a valuable service in helping you locate a new ISP that is right for you.

ISP History: newspaper. You can find national service providers by searching the Internet and/or computer-related magazines and material. While price is important, don't choose an ISP based solely on the amount that it charges or you may be disappointed when you cannot get online or get help. In choosing an ISP you should not underestimate the importance of the quality of service and the availability of good support. Often the only way to
